7 AppSheet alternatives for Google Sheets teams, and what AppSheet costs

Compare 7 AppSheet alternatives on price, free plans and whether they keep your Google Sheet. Plus AppSheet pricing: is it free, and what 20 users cost.

Seven AppSheet alternatives suit teams on Google Sheets. Glide, Softr and Noloco build apps from your sheet. Airtable and Zoho Creator move your records into a database. Power Apps suits companies on Microsoft 365, and GoodTaco builds a working app from a plain description. AppSheet is free to build and test, then $5 to $20 per user a month.

Check one thing first: if your company pays for Google Workspace, most paid plans already include AppSheet Core, so apps for your own staff may cost nothing extra. Below: what AppSheet costs, whether it’s free, who it suits, and 7 alternatives compared on Google Sheets support, free plans and price.

How we researched this: in October 2026 we checked every price, limit and feature on each vendor’s own pricing and help pages, linked where each appears. Prices are US list prices, billed yearly where noted, and they change often. We make GoodTaco, so its entry is labeled.

How much does AppSheet cost?

AppSheet charges per user per month, counting everyone who uses your deployed apps, not only the people who build them (AppSheet pricing). Billing is monthly or yearly, depending on the plan.

PlanList price20 app users a monthWhat it adds
Starter$5 per user a month$100Basic app and automation features, spreadsheets and cloud storage, the AppSheet database
Core$10 per user a month$200, or nothing extra if your Workspace plan includes CoreBarcode scanning, scheduled automations, user roles and security filters (rules for who sees which records)
Enterprise Plus$20 per user a month$400SQL databases, Salesforce and BigQuery, machine learning, admin controls for teams, priority support
Publisher Pro$50 per app a month$50 per appPublic apps anyone can open without signing in

Most paid Google Workspace plans include Core. Business Starter, Standard and Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus, Google Workspace for Nonprofits and some Education and Frontline editions come with an AppSheet Core license for each user on your company’s account (AppSheet help). Business Starter is $7 per user a month with a one-year commitment (Google Workspace pricing). The AppSheet Enterprise Plus plan costs extra.

How AppSheet counts users (AppSheet help):

  • Each person once. One license covers all the apps a person uses.
  • Apps without sign-in count devices. If an app doesn’t ask people to sign in, every device that opens it counts as a user. Go over your licenses, and after several warnings AppSheet can block the account and all its apps.

Is AppSheet free?

For building and testing, yes. You can build as many prototype apps as you like and invite up to 10 test users, yourself included, for as long as you like (AppSheet pricing). Some automations, such as sending emails, won’t fully run until you subscribe (Use AppSheet for free).

An app set to personal use can have up to three users without a license; if more people use it, access is blocked after three days. To put an app to work for your team, you need a paid plan or a Workspace plan that includes Core.

Who is AppSheet a good fit for?

For some teams, AppSheet is the right tool:

  • Teams already on Google Workspace. If your plan includes Core, apps for your own staff cost nothing extra. Paid accounts can also describe an app to Gemini to get a first version (AppSheet help).
  • Field crews on phones. AppSheet apps keep working with a weak signal or none, because each app’s data is kept on the device (limits on data size). Every plan captures photos, signatures and locations in forms, and Core adds barcode and NFC tag scanning (AppSheet pricing).
  • A builder who likes formulas. App logic is written as expressions, which Google says are similar to Excel and Google Sheets formulas (expressions).

If that’s your team and the price works, stay. Switching tools costs real time.

Why do teams look for AppSheet alternatives?

  • Every user is a license. Everyone who uses an app built on Core needs a Core license or an AppSheet User Pass, so you pay for each subcontractor, driver or client outside your Workspace (AppSheet help). Forty of them on Core is $400 a month at list price.
  • Public apps lose sign-in. Unless you’re on Enterprise Plus, an app anyone can open needs Publisher Pro, at $50 per app a month on a separate AppSheet account, and it can’t use sign-in or security filters (AppSheet help).
  • Features sit on higher plans. Starter leaves out scheduled automations, barcode scanning, user roles and security filters. SQL databases, Salesforce and BigQuery need Enterprise Plus (AppSheet pricing).
  • Changes wait for the builder. Views, actions, automations and expressions take time to learn. If only one person knows the app, every change waits for them.
  • Big sheets slow down. All of an app’s data is kept on the device, compressed to 5 MB or 10 MB at most, and Google says apps slow down well before that. It advises staying under 100,000 rows per spreadsheet (AppSheet help). AppSheet’s own database holds 2,500 rows per database on Starter and Core (AppSheet pricing).

Which tools build an app from your Google Sheet?

These three build apps from the sheet you already have, but not all of them keep working on it afterwards. Our guide to building an app from a spreadsheet compares more builders.

1. Glide

Glide sells two products: GlideOS, where an AI agent builds internal business apps from a spreadsheet, a prompt or a file, and Glide Classic, its original no-code builder (Glide pricing).

  • Best for: operations teams that run on Excel files and Google Sheets and want apps for work like inventory, field sales and work orders (Glide).
  • Google Sheets: GlideOS pulls a sheet’s data into its own table and doesn’t write back (GlideOS docs). Glide Classic syncs with a live sheet from its Maker plan, $49 a month billed yearly, which Glide sells for personal users. Staff who sign in with a business email need Business (Classic pricing, Glide Classic docs).
  • Free plan and price: GlideOS’s Free plan is for building. Publishing starts with Basic at $25 a month, and annual plans are coming soon. Glide Classic starts at $19 a month billed yearly, and Business is $199 a month billed yearly with 30 users.
  • Keep in mind: Classic’s $19 plan only imports a sheet, and Classic caps spreadsheet data at 25,000 rows.

Our Glide alternative page compares it with GoodTaco.

2. Softr

Softr builds portals and internal tools without a developer. Its AI Co-Builder creates the database, pages, user roles and logic from a description (Softr).

  • Best for: client portals, with internal tools alongside.
  • Google Sheets: it reads and writes your sheet in real time (Softr and Google Sheets).
  • Free plan and price: the Free plan includes 5 app users. Basic is $19 a month billed yearly, for 5 team and 5 client users. Pro, at $99 billed yearly, covers 10 team and 50 client users and adds Google sign-in for app users (Softr pricing).
  • Keep in mind: team users share a builder’s business email domain. Everyone else, including Gmail addresses, counts as a client.

3. Noloco

Noloco is a portal builder for operations work. Its AI builder, Nola, creates tables, pages and workflows (Noloco pricing).

  • Best for: agencies, professional services firms and operations teams that run client work through a portal (Noloco).
  • Google Sheets: on Build, the sheet stays in sync both ways (Noloco and Google Sheets). The Free plan imports a sheet instead.
  • Free plan and price: the Free plan has unlimited team seats, 50 active clients and 2,000 records. Build is $65 a month billed yearly ($79 monthly), with 10 team seats, 1,000 active clients and 25,000 records.
  • Keep in mind: the record cap counts synced rows.

Which tools move your records into a database?

If the sheet itself is the problem, these give your records a new home, and the sheet becomes a backup. Our Airtable alternatives guide covers this group in more depth, and our guide to free database software compares the free plans.

4. Airtable

Airtable is a database that looks like a spreadsheet, with Interface Designer for app screens and an AI assistant, Omni, that builds interfaces and automations from a description.

  • Best for: teams ready to move their records out of Google Sheets into a database that still feels like a grid.
  • Google Sheets: a one-time import, with no live sync, though an automation can add new sheet rows to a table (Airtable help).
  • Free plan and price: the Free plan allows 1,000 records per base and up to 5 editors. Team is $20 per seat a month billed yearly ($24 monthly), with 50,000 records per base (Airtable plans).
  • Keep in mind: on Team, everyone who can edit or comment pays for a seat, including in an interface. Read-only people are free.

5. Zoho Creator

Zoho Creator is a low-code platform for business apps with forms, reports, workflows, approvals and portals, on the web and on iOS and Android (Zoho Creator pricing).

  • Best for: teams that want approvals and workflows at a low price per user, especially if they already use other Zoho apps.
  • Google Sheets: download the sheet, upload it, and Creator builds your app’s data from it (Zoho Creator). It’s a copy, so later edits in the sheet don’t reach the app.
  • Free plan and price: the Free plan covers one app, for you alone, since sharing needs a paid plan (plan comparison). Standard is $8 per user a month billed yearly ($12 monthly) for one app. Professional, at $20 billed yearly ($30 monthly), allows unlimited apps.
  • Keep in mind: like AppSheet, it’s priced per user. People outside your company sign in through a portal, with 3 portal users included and more as an add-on.

What is the Microsoft equivalent of AppSheet?

Microsoft Power Apps, if your company runs on Microsoft 365 rather than Google Workspace.

6. Microsoft Power Apps

Power Apps is Microsoft’s low-code app builder, with Dataverse as its own database and connectors to other data (Power Apps pricing).

  • Best for: companies on Microsoft 365 with someone in IT who can own the apps.
  • Google Sheets: yes, through Microsoft’s Google Sheets connector. Sheets in shared drives can’t be picked (Microsoft Learn).
  • Free plan and price: Premium is $20 per user a month, paid yearly, for unlimited apps, with a free trial. Microsoft’s free Developer Plan is for building and testing, and from November 15, 2026, signing up for it no longer creates a space to build in (Microsoft Learn).
  • Keep in mind: as with AppSheet, every app user needs a license, so the cost grows with your team.

Which tool builds the app for you?

AppSheet, Glide, Softr, Noloco, Airtable, Zoho Creator and Power Apps now have AI helpers that draft an app from a description. GoodTaco is built around it.

7. GoodTaco (our product)

GoodTaco is an AI app builder for business teams. Describe what you need, such as a job board for your techs, and it builds a working web app in minutes. You change it by asking in plain words, so there are no expressions to learn.

  • Best for: teams that want a working app on their Google Sheet without learning an app builder.
  • Google Sheets: it connects live, so the app reads and writes the same sheet. You can also upload an Excel or CSV file into a built-in GoodTaco database.
  • Free plan and price: free to start, with no credit card. Paid plans start at $9 a month, and Pro at $49 a month includes 10 users; bigger teams talk to us about Enterprise.

Other tools worth a look

  • Budibase suits teams with IT help. It’s open source, and the self-hosted edition is free with unlimited users. Budibase Cloud starts at $19 a month billed yearly for one creator, plus $5 a month per end user (Budibase pricing). Changes made in Budibase show up in a connected Google Sheet (Budibase docs).
  • Google Forms is enough if your AppSheet app is mostly a form. It’s part of Google Workspace and saves each response to a linked Google Sheet (Google Forms help), but it gives you no screens to update or approve records afterwards.

How to choose an AppSheet alternative

Start with the job you need done:

Then check each finalist against these questions:

  • Will people keep editing the sheet? Then pick a tool that works on the live sheet: Softr, Noloco on Build, Glide Classic from Maker, Power Apps, Budibase or GoodTaco. GlideOS, Airtable and Zoho Creator copy it in.
  • Does it work where your team works? If your crews work offline, photograph equipment or collect signatures, AppSheet already does all three, and staying may be right. Either way, have someone from the field try the new app on their own phone, on the job, before you switch.

What do 10 people cost a month?

List prices from each vendor’s pricing page, linked above:

Tool and plan10 people a month
AppSheet Core$100, or $0 extra on most paid Workspace plans
Power Apps Premium$200, paid yearly
Airtable Team$200 billed yearly, if all 10 edit
Zoho Creator Standard$80 billed yearly, for one app
Softr Pro$99 billed yearly, for 10 team and 50 client users
Noloco Build$65 billed yearly, with 10 team seats
Glide Classic Business$199 billed yearly, with 30 users
GoodTaco Pro$49, with 10 users included

How to move off AppSheet

  1. List your apps and their users. In AppSheet, the App Info tab under My Account shows usage for all your apps (AppSheet pricing).
  2. Find where each table lives. Tables on a Google Sheet stay where they are, so the new tool can connect to the same sheet. For a table in an AppSheet database, the Copy Data to New Source button in the table’s settings copies it to another data source you’ve connected (AppSheet help).
  3. Write down the logic. Expressions, actions, automations and security filters don’t move to another tool. Note what each one does in plain words, such as “only managers see costs”.
  4. Rebuild the busiest screen first, and test it with real records.
  5. Run both, then switch. Keep the AppSheet app running while a few people use the new one. When the records match for a week, move everyone over.

Build on your Google Sheet with GoodTaco

If your AppSheet app runs on a Google Sheet, you don’t have to move anything. Connect the same sheet with the Google Sheets app builder. Then describe the app you need, such as “show each tech today’s jobs, with a button to mark a job done”. You get a working app in minutes, on the sheet you already have.

When a tech marks a job done in the app, the office sees it in the sheet, and edits made in the sheet show up in the app. Need a new column or screen? Ask in plain words, and if a change isn’t right, roll back to the version before it. On a private app, people sign in with Google or an emailed link before they see any data. Apps open in any browser, including a phone’s.

If your records live in an Excel or CSV file instead, upload it with spreadsheet to app, no account needed to try. GoodTaco imports the records into a built-in database and turns columns of repeated choices into dropdowns.

Keep your Google Sheet and get a working app without learning an app builder. Start free, no credit card needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to AppSheet?

It depends on the job. Glide, Softr and Noloco build apps from your spreadsheet, Airtable and Zoho Creator move your records into a database, Power Apps suits companies on Microsoft 365, and GoodTaco builds a working app from a plain description on your live Google Sheet.

Is AppSheet free?

For building and testing, yes. You can build prototype apps and share them with up to 10 test users, yourself included, with no time limit, and an app set to personal use can have up to three users. To run apps for your team's work, you need a paid plan or a Google Workspace plan that includes AppSheet Core.

How much does AppSheet cost?

AppSheet Starter is $5, Core is $10 and Enterprise Plus is $20 per user a month, and you pay for every person who uses your deployed apps. Publisher Pro, for public apps with no sign-in, is $50 per app a month.

Is AppSheet included with Google Workspace?

AppSheet Core is. Most paid Workspace editions, including Business Starter, Standard and Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus, and Google Workspace for Nonprofits, include a Core license for each user on your company's account. The AppSheet Enterprise Plus plan costs extra.

What is the Microsoft equivalent of AppSheet?

Microsoft Power Apps. Power Apps Premium is $20 per user a month, paid yearly, and everyone who uses your apps needs a license. It can work with a Google Sheet through Microsoft's Google Sheets connector.

Is there a free AppSheet alternative?

Yes, with limits. Softr, Noloco, Airtable and GoodTaco have free plans. Zoho Creator's free plan is for you alone, since sharing an app needs a paid plan, and GlideOS's free plan is for building only. Budibase is free and open source if you host it yourself.

Can I move my AppSheet app to another tool?

Your records can move, but the app's logic can't. Tables on a Google Sheet stay in the sheet, and Softr, Noloco on Build, Glide Classic from its Maker plan, Power Apps and GoodTaco can work on that same sheet. Expressions, actions, automations and security filters don't transfer, so you rebuild them in the new tool.
